Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Insurans Islam TAIB General Takaful Sendirian Berhad (IITGT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Lecture Theatre 2, UTB.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, the Minister of Communications.
Also present at the ceremony was the Deputy Minister of Finance also the Chairman of the Board of Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin Bin Haji Abd Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Yang Mulia Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, the Managing Director of Insurans Islam TAIB General Takaful Sendirian Berhad, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Osman bin Haji Md Jair, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Members of IITGT Board of Directors, Members of Brunei National Road Safety Council, Senior Officers of IITGT and Principal Officers of UTB.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a Welcoming Remarks by Yang Mulia Dr Tan Soon Jiann, Director of Centre for Transport Research, UTB. (Please see attachment for speech).
The ceremony then continued with remarks by Yang Mulia Haji Osman bin Haji Md Jair, Managing Director of Insurans Islam TAIB General Takaful Sendirian Berhad. (Please see attachment for speech).
Signing on behalf of UTB was Yang Mulia Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, and witnessed by Yang Mulia Dr Tan Soon Jiann, Director of Centre for Transport Research. Meanwhile on behalf of IITGT represented by the Managing Director, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Osman bin Haji Md Jair, and witnessed by the Senior Manager of IITGT, Yang Mulia Awang Zamrin bin Haji Abdul Ghani.
Also at the same ceremony, the Guest of Honour presented a prize to the winner of the Insurans Islam TAIB Social Media Quiz on Road Safety Awareness for August 2018. The winner of the quiz is Yang Mulia Pg. Siti Saerah binti Haji Abdul Rahman.
Under this MoU, UTB and IITGT will work together on projects, initiatives and programmes; sharing of data; research and development; industrial internships for UTB students; industrial talks and seminars; consultancy; career and education initiatives and other areas of cooperation.
The signing also marks a new milestone for IITGT in conjunction with IIT’s 25th Anniversary to enhance collaboration with UTB. In addition, it will demonstrate IITGT’s strong support for the UTB’s efforts to expand and strengthen its engineering and research capability. It will also harness our people’s capabilities to create and apply innovative technological solution. Furthermore, it is an important part of IITGT’s continuing contribution to the community development in Brunei Darussalam.
UTB continues to work with its stakeholders, especially from the industry, to enhance the educational experience of its students and provide solutions to contemporary issues facing the industry and society through translational research.
